Land Cruiser 80 Series Rear Axle Exchange

Both upper control arms broke off from my friends 80 Series. The axle looked in a bad state already so welding was not an option. We decided to remove the axle and replace it with a donor axle from another Land Cruiser. We had to remove the Upper and Lower control arms (Radius Arm), Lateral Control arm, both coil springs and the Stabilizer Bar which were quite easy to remove.

The new axle had yet to be delivered, so we already started to remove the broken one.

There is limited space in my friends’ garage, and with the British weather being unpredictable; this made the changeover more hassle than it should have been.

Finally we managed to get everything out, now is a good time to clean and paint underneath and surrounding areas.

Now, we just have to wait for the axle!
